If you have finished Taku's or Rei's route and replay the game from chapter 1, you can get an extra "clue" from Sakaki in one of the Exploration part. By choosing that clue to end the Psychological part of chapter 1, you'll proceed to a different chapter 2, which is Madarame's route.
In previous post I expected that Madarame's and Fujieda's route will be about the darker side and core story of Slow Damage, and boy N+C didn't betray my expectations. In fact, they slap it right into my face and I'm thanking them for that. The last two routes are almost 5 times wilder than the first two.
Chapter 2 : Kei Madarame - Immutable
Madarame used to be one of the strongest member in Takasato yakuza group, working directly under the second son of Takasato group director, Kaga. Back when he was still joining the group, Towa used to hang around with Madarame and Kaga. But one day a conflict in the group happened which lead to Kaga's death, Towa's right eye got shot, and Madarame presumed to be dead even if his body was never found.
Recently there has been a rumor of people seeing a "ghost" resembling Madarame around Deathmatch area, which turns out to be the actual person himself, still alive and kicking (quite literally). Madarame then kidnapped Towa and held him capture in one of the abandoned building near Deathmatch area, telling him that his life so far has been a lie, and that he actually belongs to "dark side".
After several painful attempts to escape and investigations, Towa eventually found out what Madarame's motive to came back to Shinkoumi and captured Towa. What is Madarame's actual desire? What is the truth behind Towa's past and which path will he choose?
Madarame's route personal impression
In a nutshell, it's The Adventure of Stockholm Syndrome Towa. To be very honest, his route isn't really my jam, so I don't really have that much deep impression about it... In fact it does make me a bit upset seeing Towa still thinking about going back to Madarame's "hell" LMAO... I mean I can understand his motivations and reasons etc, but it's just not my most favorite trope, I guess.
However, I have to thank Madarame's route for giving us Towa in suits. Damn.
Also cats. Madarame loves cats apparently.
As for his route's endings, for the first time, I like the bad end better LMAO, I'm not sure why...
Trigger warnings for chapter 2 (Madarame's route) (as far as I remember):
Self-harm, wound, blood, scars, heavy violence, captive victim, heavy physical and mental abuse during capture, non-con, and much more... I feel like there's too many possible trigger warnings... It's that kind of route after all.
That ends my review of Madarame's route, thank you for reading!
In next post I'll write about my long-awaited story: Fujieda's route aka the true route. Seriously, it's one hell of a wild ride which might (or might not) change your perception about Slow Damage after the first 3 routes.
